Conservatism and Leadership

There are many aspects of leadership which embody the idea of conservatism. It is believed that at the heart of conservatism is self accountability. At the heart of leadership is accountability in not only your leadership but in the actions of those whom you lead. That implies that leaders are responsible and accountable for the actions of those they lead either through direct interaction or through delegation. It is a constant debate whether or not this is completely fair, but if it was then that would mean that life was fair and burdens were fairly distributed to each individual. On the same logic fairness implies equal qualities without advantages over anyone at any task. For people to have everything be fair, means there are no advantages or disadvantages in life. This philosophy is good for the disadvantaged, because the disadvantaged move up in life, but bad for the advantaged, since they move down. Ironically if this ideal were to come to fruition people would find out where they really were on the advantaged/disadvantaged scale. I think people would be shocked to realize were they really are.

The latter is the dream of liberalism, that no man (not gender specific) should have a burden. This philosophy is also flawed, where would burden go? As far as people are concerned, they aren't concerned as long as burden shifts away from them. (great spot for a moral plug but this is a blog not a book) People sell this dream as a clean slate that never fills except equally across the slates of others. Society will share the problems of society equally. So, is this even an achievable dream? The answer is no. The sad part is this dream is rooted in one of two places, one in people believing/willing to give all for the benefit of others and two those who believe in entitlement.

To tie this back to leadership; leadership today implies that the authority to carry out tasks can be delegated but the accountability to accomplish the assigned task lies solely on the shoulders of the leader, usually the leader that was furthest down on the delegation. To me this idea has a huge flaw. This idea of leadership in a non-trickle down of accountability leaves the majority without any ramifications for their actions. The only ramification is when the leadership fails and those below are not supported by the established leadership and are left one their own, which they are not accustomed to. Todays leadership theory, like todays society, tries to appease all aspects of society. It merges the liberal view of no ones fault and spreading of burdens regardless of capability with that of the conservative accountability. So regardless of the abilities that people possess, all should be able to accomplish the same tasks within an organization and if they can't then that task failed due to leadership vice poorly trained or inept employees/Sailors. In the end the two cannot sustain each other. The leadership gets bogged down with the ramifications of decisions and the lower go idle. Leadership has no motivation to reach beyond the status quo because to do so is a constant risk and potential career ender. Being idle though is not in the vocabulary of a true leader, which leaves their, be it their own or their heirs, downfall as inevitable. Once a leader fails there is no other job to which they can apply their talents in life. The workers on the other hand can move from job to job without endangering their livelihood. They have been taught to accept a ceiling to what they can accomplish and to just look for a leader to give direction. That position is sustainable, low risk but low reward. Yet this is the class of worker that demands more for less.

This is where the human history of classes come from. The higher classes have always been the high risk high reward. Call them Aristocrats, CEO's, Royalty or Managers. Society always dictates and rewards those who step into that challenge and forever punishes them when they fail. The solution is to enforce accountability all the way down. Every person should be held accountable for their own performance. If people became accountable on all levels then that would breed a productive workforce all striving to accomplish more and more for job security and for reward.

It is my belief that this hybrid style of leadership that is active today is a self defeating doctrine. The only two possible outcomes from this doctrine is the establishment of a permanent upper class or the failure of a nation. Until we reach a point when our society can bluntly state, "You are responsible for your own success or failure regardless of personal situations." , then we will be plagued by politically correctness. I'll post later on thoughts on Unions and how they cannot carry our nation or workforce forward, but hold it back to old ideology.

Symptom or Selfish

I look at the results of today's politics as either a product of the decline of Conservative values in America, or as crooked politicians who look out for only themselves. I personally am more convinced of the decline of our Conservative values, I tend to believe in the overall good of people. It is easier for me to accept the fact that, as detrimental as most liberal ideas are towards a nation, that most ideas are done with the best of intentions.
last night when I was playing a game on Xbox Online with other people, there was a kid who believed in talking "smack", for older people that means being extremely disrespectful and usually derogatory. There was also another guy who I was playing with that is 36 years old, Texas A&M grad. This kid who was talking all this smack got me and the other guy discussing the decline of parental responsability in America. How could parents let this kid have a TV in his room, connected to the internet and allow him to cuss at adults? How do parents justify letting this kind of behavior go on in their house? Me and the other guy discussed the equivalent of what that would be like if we did that when we were growing up. Could you imagine playing a game of two-hand touch football with 26-27 year olds when you were only 16, then cuss at them and call them derogatory names when they did better then you? NO! You pull something like that when I was growing up, you were likely to get your butt kicked.
Where are the parents today? Do they take responsability for thier kids? Can they justify the complete lack of supervision in their lives? This is why I am against more regulations on movies, games, the internet, etc. These parents NEED to take their kids back from the world they have abandoned them to. I will never put my kids in theses situations, never.

Petty

It has been a constant nuisance to watch the Media gripe and complain about being a "Washington Insider", then stating that others have no legislative experience. Am I the only one who gets tired of the media acting like a schizophrenic that is about to kick it's own butt? Palin was not familiar with DC and lacked foreign policy experience, then Kennedy has Zero legislative experience but is a Kennedy, but never the less isn't "Qualified". Here is my big beef. The father of Conservatism, Thomas Jefferson, says that it is people like Kennedy, Palin, you, and me that make good poloticians. Why? Because at this very moment, neither one of us are politicians.
I would trust a Liberal who grew up with nothing and scraped by enough to get a campaign together, then a multi-millioaire who thinks us Americans are too ignorant to help ourselves. I know a few Liberals who are what I like to call Economy Class, that are understanding of the conservative views and see their points more strongly with a conservative twist.
Plain and simple, I am tired of "career" politicians. It is time that people take America back and kickout all the look down your nose politicians in DC, Republican and Democrat alike.
I know this ventures away from a discussion to a rant, thanks for bearing with me. I am tired of seeing the media sway the peoples thoughts. Even though it is funny watching people switch their point of views as fast as CNN and MSNBC.

Choice or Inherent Birth Defects?

One of the pillars of Conservatism is the notion of all people are responsible and accountable for their actions. So why do I bring this up? I had a discussion today at work revolving around ADHD/Psychopaths/Homosexuals. The guy at work is a staunch California Liberal, and I am a true Conservative. His point of view very basically was that people are predisposed and some are straight-up born to not have choices on the above mentioned areas. I, being a realist, will give ground on the fact that with the infinite number of triggers in our brain that there will be some who are given a predisposition towards two of the above, and on very rare conditions (mostly the 0.1% of people) people are genetically attracted to the same sex. Before my fellow conservatives have a heart attack, I still believe that even with "genetic mutations" mankind is still given the choice of following instinct or making moral decisions.
What does this all mean? If I were to get any random homosexual and sit them down and say, "You have two options. Either you were born gay or you chose to be. Which would you choose?" I then went on to explain that with the taboo that society (and God) has placed on being homosexual, no one in their right mind would ever say this was my choice. People instead would blame culture and "God". This also begins to explain why most Homosexuals are Liberals as well. I also told him that my theory would prove itself in the long run when being a homosexual was a widely accepted way of life that people would begin to say that it is their choice. When there is no need for excuses then the truth will come through. To take the other road of, "This was my choice." would entail accountability for that choice and the responsibility of living with that decision.
To make this less provocative lets look at a psychopath. Science has "proven" that being a psychopaths is the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain that separates feeling from decisions. A psychopath has a genetic disposition to act without concern for consequence because they feel nothing towards that consequence. Most people we know to be psychopaths are CEO's, Managers, Used Car Sales men, politicians, and the occasional Jeffery Dommer. With psychopaths there is still a choice to make. To be morally wrong or to be morally right.
I believe this is the Freedom of Choice we got from Adam and Eve, regardless of genetic dispositions, we still have choices. Some people have a harder choice, based on what "defects" science deems they have, but regardless it is the age old battle of overcoming instincts. Overcoming instincts has another neat name, Civilization.

Where we come from.

I heard a country song a while ago and I wondered why I loved it so much. If you like country you would know this song, Chicken Fried. The lyrics are as follows:

You know I like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up

Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia pine
And that’s home you know
Sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine
Where the peaches grow
And my house it’s not much to talk about
But it’s filled with love that’s grown in southern ground
And a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I’ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman’s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother’s love

And its funny how it’s the little things in life that mean the most
Not where you live, what you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There’s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I’ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I’ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman’s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother’s love

I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
the ones that give their lives so we don’t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I’ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman’s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother’s love

And you know i like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I’ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman’s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother’s love

This song when I first heard it just had a catchy tune. Then the millionth time I heard it while traveling across country on vacation it sank in. "Why can't I be happy with something as a nice pair of jeans, my lovely wife, the tenderness of my children?" This coupled with the many talk radio shows I was listening to I realized that this is what we are missing today. Who speaks for us who want nothing more grandeur then the simple joys of life? Why doesn't someone praise those of use who love our country, our God, our family, and our fried chicken?
People who love these things get wrote off as gun toating rednecks, ignorant hicks, or simple folk. I tell you the truth, I would trust a man satisfied with the simple things in life to go to capitol hill and represent me before I would consider trusting a socially ignorant, Ivy league graduates, who "have the best intention" towards us.
This is our country too. It is time we get more people out of PTA and into DC. Not union leaders, community organizers, lawyers, political science majors, or whoever is the pop culture buzz of today.
Read those lyrics again, and tell me you don't feel respect for the writer of that song. I have more desire to be that man then a millionaire, and I am willing to bet a lot of Americans feel the same.

Why?

I have come to realize that the petty bickering that has been going on for the past eight years is not a sole product of the Liberals but just disgruntled losers who only believe in democracy when democracy works their way. I have had to swallow a lot of pride and dignity and admit that Obama has been the newly elected President of these United States. I never wished nor did I want for that to happen. I believe he will prove to be either a lame duck president, hopefully, or the worst President in recent history. The only president I can think of that could be worse would be Herbert Hoover. (Great Name for a President that sucked.)
Conservatives be proud of the fact that we have seen the strongest numbers of people voting and participating in our republic voting system. Be proud of the fact that in under 40 years we go from separate but equal to the first Black, or white(depends on which half you count), President.
Let us move forward and collect our beliefs and go back to our roots. Let us speak for the common man, and not only speak like ordinary Americans but also act like one. We are the movement of accountability, responsibility, morality and religion. Remember that when you want to complain. We need to stay true to our beliefs if we wish to win the country back to and for God. To and For our children, our grandchildren, for future generations yet to come, and for the last hope of reasonable thinking left in a socialist world.
I beg you fellow conservatives stay true to our beliefs and make this a party of action once again. I stand by the fact that a complaining and screaming liberal gets a federal hand out and keeps welfare alive, a screaming and complaining conservative is that alone. You cannot be a screaming complaining conservative and not be a hypocrite. Let us be conservatives, let us be Christians and let us dedicate this country back to God.
